Each year, our organization organizes four mixers hosted by a local business member. They are a time for community, conversation, and new friendships. We want to share all of the details for how you can get involved, what is needed from our host, and more below!
What Is A KTBA Mixer?
If you have not been to a KTBA mixer before, we would love to see you there! Four times a year, our organization invites a local business member (or two) to host a networking event for our organization. This event is free for all members and $20 for guest business representatives/owners (an eligible guest would either live in and/or work within the boundaries of Kensington or Talmadge). During the 2-hour meeting, we enjoy some networking time with our fellow small business owners, eat delicious local food, enjoy some cocktails or refreshments, and learn more about the business of our host that evening.
How Can I Host A Mixer?
Our board begins the planning process for mixers in the fall of the year prior, but we do keep a running list of those interested in hosting throughout the year. If you have an interest in potentially hosting, don’t hesitate to reach out to the Board to let them know at any time. All mixer dates for the year are finalized each January. We alternate between Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the mid to latter parts of February, June, August, and October. As a host, you can request a date that works best for you. Each mixer takes place from 5:30 pm through 7:30 pm. To be eligible to host, you must be a member of the Kensington Talmadge Business Association (KTBA) for a minimum of one year.
Responsibilities Of Mixer Hosts
- Venue:
Hosts provide the venue for the mixer, whether at their workplace, home, or by partnering with a local business that will provide a space for us. This is a great way for members to learn more about your space. - Refreshments and Appetizers:
Hosts provide refreshments and appetizers for the evening. We encourage supporting a local business for these items and allow co-sponsors to help share the cost and the spotlight for the evening. - Presentation:
Our hosts are given about 10-15 minutes to make a presentation which provides you an opportunity for the KTBA members to see your workplace firsthand, learn about what you do, and any special events, ventures or programs you are putting together.
These events are well-attended, are great fun, and a perfect networking opportunity.
